Amazon.com - Ordered 02/25/99 - Shipped 02/26/99 - Received 03/10/99 Recorded on April 27, 1997, at the Hit Factory's Studio 1, New York City. Titanic opened on Broadway at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on April 23, 1997. The booklet contains 4 medium color pictures of the show, on a double page which background is a B&W picture of the Titanic, and 3 other medium color pictures of the show. There is a 4 pages text by Peter Stone about the show and the Titanic tragedy, and a 2 pages synopsis. It's the 3rd musical I get with music from Maury Yeston (after Nine and Phantom. I did get it only because it was Maury Yeston who had written the score, not for the subject I find not that much interesting out of the fact that it was a great tragedy. Well, this is not Nine's score, but it's still quite inspirated. I've had some pleasure listening at it, furthermore, having listened to Forbidden Broadway's Ship Of Air I've smiled quite a few times. Singers are performing quite well. Unfortunately, I find the recording a little flat as a whole. There are no musical numbers that raise to my ear as easily as Unusual Way or The Bells Of San Sebastian (from Nine). There quite beautiful songs though: Barrett's Song (Brian d'Arcy James performs it in a fantastic way), Lady's Maid reflects the hope of the passengers aboard the Titanic well. This is an good average quality recording.
