CD Now - Ordered 03.03.2001 - Shipped 06.07.2001 - Received 06.14.2001 Produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Nigel Wright, Engineered by Robin Sellars, Orchestrations by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Music Supervised and Conducted by Simon Lee. The booklet contains one two full pages montage consisting of three big colour pictures (and one small) of the stage at different moments mainly showing Jesus and Herod (I think as the pictures are not described). There is another half page picture of the stage, and one picture of a cross made of light bulbs. The booklet back cover holds a large picture of Jesus. The back of the jewel box holds a montage of two pictures and the inside of the jewel box holds the light bulbs cross. No synopsis, no text, no production notes. I was very happy to get this recording even more because I expected it to be one more JCS recording in my collection, and it appears to be a major recording, with great performances and a perfect sound. That's one of the advantages of Sony, they are not very strong with text, but their sound and pictures are excellent. I've been impressed by the way the singers have made theirs those roles that have been performed so many times. Jerome Pradon impressed me as from his performance in a French cast of Les Misérables (if I remember well) to this, there is a incredible improvement in his vocal performance. He must have found an excellent voice coach! I found his rendition of Judas songs quite excellent, even if they do not follow all the sound tricks JCS cast recording listeners use to hear for the role. Go on Jerome, continue the good work! Other cast members are excellent of course, and Glenn Carter really lives the role of Jesus. An excellent cast recording with a very modern sound.
