The booklet contains one page of text by David Henry Hwang that introduces this musical in its historical context. There is a two pages synopsis (written very very small). For each performer, there is a little ID B&W picture (very small), with a few line describing their respective background and experience.

This is a nice recording, with songs full of life, thanks to the entertaining score and the performers. What I don't find here is a real strong male voice. Im my (humble) opinion, this musical has the same spirit as Ragtime, in the music, the story and the way of singing. That's also probably what I regret: I didn't find Ragtime as good as it promised to be (the cast recording at least) because of these characteristics. Mainly, I'd say that Heading East is more interesting in the way a story is told than in the pure singing aspect. It remains a good quality recording though, and I would recommend it to those who appreciate Ragtime.
