Amazon.com - Ordered 08.28.2000 - Shipped 09.17.2000 - Received 09.28.2000 Original text translated by Albert Bermel and Ted Emery. Orchestrations by Elliot Goldenthal, Directed by Julie Taymor. BEWARE: This recording contains only few songs, and most of its short 36 minutes is instrumental music. Even if it's good music, it's not songs. In fact, there are only 5 (tracks 2, 6, 8, 11 and 20) songs on the recording, and these are probably not what a musical theatre listener could have expected. First, there's no real 'lead song'. Then, the music is very strance, special, and so are the song melodies: very sad, slow, desperate, but with a great underlying beauty. The booklet contains 7 medium and three big color pictures of the show, two color ID pictures of the composer and the director. There is a one page text by the composer Elliot Goldenthal, a half page text about the author, Carlo Gozzi, a half page text about the composer, and one and a half page text from Director Julie Taymor herself. The inside of the jewel box contains a green feather, and the back of the box holds three color pictures of the show. The lyrics included are those of the last song O Foolish Heart only.
