Amazon.com - Ordered 04/08/99 - Shipped 04/14/99 - Received 04/24/99 Can-Can opened at the Shubert Theatre, New York, on May 17th, 1953 and ran for 892 performances. Can-Can was originally recorded on May 17, 1953. The booklet contains 2 big B&W one big color pictures of the show. There is a 9 pages text by David Foil, including a 2 pages synopsis. Strangely, this old sounding recorded pleases me more than I could have thought at first listening. The performers are giving something to the songs that lead them out of music and sound fashion. The music is also rather out of time, being somehow simple and gay. A very nice score and very good singer performances makes that I appreciate listening to this recording from time to time. Some songs I appreciate: If You Loved Me Truly, It's Alright With Me, Every Man Is A Stupid Man and I Love Paris (the one I'm listening at while writing this, and that gives me some shivers...). Let's give a special mention to Lilo, who's the soul of this recording.
